A Message from the San Fernando Valley UNA Chapter President David Tuckman:
Chapter President’s Message:
David Tuckman
In a Time of Uncertainty, the World Needs Your Voice—Now More Than Ever
As we begin 2025, following the historic re-election of President Donald Trump, our nation feels deeply divided between liberal and conservative ideologies. It’s remarkable to think that only five years ago, we experienced another form of separation during the COVID-19 pandemic—a time that tested our resilience in unimaginable ways.No matter where our political beliefs fall, we must not allow them to distance us from our shared values or from the vital work happening on the global stage. In fact, now is the perfect time to lean in, stay informed, remain engaged, and take action in support of the United Nations.
Whether it’s standing up for human rights, eliminating extreme poverty, ending human trafficking, combating climate change, or protecting refugees, the UN is working tirelessly to build a brighter future by confronting some of the planet’s most complex challenges. But the UN cannot do it alone.
While the UN stands up for the world, we are standing up for the UN mission in the advancement of human rights and our planet.
These are indeed unprecedented times, but our UNA-USA community remains resilient, engaged, and supportive. As global advocates and local changemakers, our mission has never been more important. Let’s continue to discover creative and meaningful ways to unite and uplift.
With Appreciation,
David Tuckman
San Fernando Valley Chapter President
