In a Time of Uncertainty, We Are Still Connected

Social distancing does not mean we are distancing from our core values and impact on global issues. In fact, this just might be the perfect time to lean in, get informed, stay engaged, and take action to support the UN.

As San Fernando Valley President, I want to let you know as a member of our chapter family that we are thinking of you and your loved ones at this trying time in our world’s history.

UNA-USA has created a virtual activities hub with our community in mind, curating some of the best webinars, online resources from UN agencies, and further ways to take action.

While the Global Summit in New York was cancelled to protect the health of all our members, UNA-USA wanted to keep you engaged, so it has taken the Global Engagement Series online.

Please go to  https://unausa.org/virtual-activities-hub/ where beginning this month, you can join UNA-USA leaders and world class speakers for free online virtual programs.

UNA-USA Climate Activist Online Training
Update from UN Women: The SDGs and Gender Equality
Developing a Global Goals Service Resume
Emerging Leaders Fellowship: Gender Equality Series
UN Update Webinar with Peter Yeo
Understanding America’s Perspective on the UN
UNA-USA Advocacy Training Webinar

In addition to the national virtual events above, we will be holding chapter executive committee and general member meetings through Zoom.

These are unique and challenging times for everyone, but the UNA-USA community will remain strong, productive, and supportive of one another. As global advocates and community change-makers, our role has never been more crucial. Let’s find creative ways to come together.

All my best,

David Tuckman

Global Goals Ambassadors Program

The UNA-USA Global Goals Ambassador Program is an opportunity for UNA-USA members to take their passion about a particular Sustainable Development Goal and leverage it to develop related programming and communications at the national level.

During this yearlong fellowship, selected Ambassadors will work alongside UNA-USA staff and other volunteer leaders to promote the SDGs through blog posts and UNA Forum articles, attendance and representation at events, and the creation of national events.

Applications must be received by Tuesday, September 8.

When you donate to the response fund the chapter will match donations up to $250 from the chapter. Please email our chapter President with you name and amount donated so the Chapter is aware of your support. David Tuckman e-mail: uc*******@gm***.com

Join Us for a Coffee Talk...

Or Model UN...

"How have I not been doing this all these years?"
Yiming Ye
Senior at Arcadia High School who represented Lebanon on the UN High Commission for Refugees Committee on the Syrian Refugee Crisis at our 2016 conference.

Half a Million Americans have participated in Model UN.

MUN has seen rapid growth over the past several decades and several of today’s leaders in law, government, business, and the arts participated in MUN – from U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, to Chelsea Clinton, to actor Samuel L. Jackson.

The Pasadena Chapter offers in‐class training for high school classes. This equips participants with an understanding of UN processes and grounding in simulations so they are ready for full engagement in a fantastic conference.
