Our speaker Rose Strauss is a twenty-year-old UCSB junior.   She spoke at the 5oth Anniversary of the SB Oil Spill that marked the beginning of the environmental movement.  “We have 11 years left and counting. Failing to meet this deadline is a death sentence for my generation.  Although that’s terrifying, that is the weight that every single young person carries with them every day.  This is no longer about conserving the environment.  This is the fight of our lives for our lives and there is no time to waste”.
We only have a few years before we will have lost the opportunity to mitigate the damage to life from an overheated world. Together we can have a positive impact  Paris to Pittsburgh is a 2018 documentary film about climate change directed by National Geographic filmmaker Sidney Beaumont and documentarian Michael Bonfiglio and produced by Bloomberg Philanthropies, National Geographic and RadicalMedia. The film is narrated by Rachel Brosnahan. We must be the change we are waiting for.
