We'd like to honor and proudly recognize the 2023 Peace Prize Awardees:

Sharon Allen, World Telehealth Initiative

Elsa Granados, Standing Together To End Sexual Assault (STESA)

The Santa Barbara UNA Peace Prize started as a project of the Santa Barbara Chapter of the United Nations Association to recognize outstanding community members of the Tri-County area (San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Santa Barbara).

Our annual Peace Prize Event is held on the International Day of Peace, September 21st, this year’s theme is Santa Barbara Women Innovating Good Health and Wellbeing for the World.

The Peace Prize is given each year to an individual who has achieved worldwide impact in the service of peace in a way that is tangible and measurable to one or more of these goals:

  1. Peacemaking and advancing the cause of peace globally.
  2. Work to advance or defend the cause of human rights internationally.
  3. Advancements in developing nations such as: creating infrastructure, delivering supplies, building wells to achieve clean water, education opportunities, etc.

The United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) is a movement of Americans dedicated to supporting the United Nations. With over 20,000 members (60% under the age of 26) and more than 200 chapters across the country, UNA-USA members are united in their commitment to global engagement and their belief that each of us can play a part in advancing the UN’s mission and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
