Join Us for a Critical Conversation on Human Rights & U.S. Policy!

We invite you to take part in an important discussion on human rights advocacy and contribute to shaping the future of U.S. human rights policies through the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Consultation. Your voice is essential in this process. Join us for this critical conversation and help drive meaningful change!

This meeting features Guest Speaker, Joshua Cooper who was recently appointed on the US Human Rights Network Universal Periodic Review Task Force Co-Chair at the UN Human Rights Council. He briefs fellow members on the intricate workings and also developing strategy. Cooper presented keynote addresses to nationwide gatherings of human rights groups to guarantee promotion and protection of human rights. He continues to volunteer for various indigenous peoples movements in the global human rights machinery.

What is a UPR Consultation Report?

The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a peer-review process conducted by the UN Human Rights Council every five years, assessing the human rights record of every UN member state. This process results in formal recommendations to help each country strengthen its commitment to international human rights standards.

Why Your Participation Matters

This consultation will bring together advocates, experts, and community members to discuss key human rights challenges in the U.S. The insights gathered will shape official reports, which contribute directly to the UPR process and influence policy recommendations for the U.S. federal government.
The United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) is a movement of Americans dedicated to supporting the United Nations. With over 20,000 members (60% under the age of 26) and more than 200 chapters across the country, UNA-USA members are united in their commitment to global engagement and their belief that each of us can play a part in advancing the UN’s mission and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
