Open General Board Meeting

United Nations Association of Southern California invite the public to attend:

Open General Board Meeting

Barbara Gaughen-Muller

President, UNA Southern California Division

Agenda

Keynote: What You Don't Know About The Housing Crisis....And It's Happening Globally

Housing is quickly moving out of reach with families outbid on homes and tenants
struggling with steep rent increases and evictions. Homelessness is now a global
problem, even in countries with social safety nets. The Pandemic accelerated this
problem.

“Go to“ solutions like increasing housing supply and density only exacerbate the
problem, maddeningly, for elected officials, desperately seeking solutions.
In this presentation, Sharon Byrne walks us through why housing prices are
escalating and how it’s affecting the world’s cities. Sharon will also present

solutions from forward looking cities and countries trying to protect their citizens’
access to housing. She recently presented these facts to the Little Hoover
Commission meeting and has worked on California’s housing legislation.

Past President, UNA Southern California Division

Thank You, Barry Simon!

Thank you, Barry Simon, our President for the last 4 years. Much has been accomplished, despite the Covid-19 situation: overall membership has increased, chapters have held exciting events/coffee talks, via Zoom, focusing on climate, human rights, homelessness, etc. The new Long Beach chapter is launching!

Thank you Dr. Gupta and Judith Harris. A truly West Coast CLIMATE Forum created in partnership with the Mid-Pacific and Northwest Regions was very successful, with over 300 attendees! You have made us all proud and thank you for filling the position of Treasurer. Our board meetings love you and your smile. Thanks again!
